Wilson Fittipaldi, Brabham BT42 Ford, is to the left of him. On the far left, Carlos Pace crashes his Surtees TS14A Ford.

Jody Scheckter (RSA) McLaren M23 made a slight mistake at the exit of Woodcote completing the first lap that triggered one of the biggest accidents in F1 history, stopping the race and putting eight cars out of action for the restart.

James Hunt (GBR) Hesketh Racing March 731 was one of the stars of the race as he scored his, and the teamÕs, first GP points with a fourth place finish in only his third GP.
