"Pierre Levegh" leads Karl Kling/Andre Simon (both Mercedes-Benz 300SLR) and Helmuth Glockler/Jaroslav Juhan (Porsche 550). After 2 hours of the race "Levegh" crashed into the crowd killing himself and 82 spectators in the worst accident in motor racing history. Ref-Autocar C43743.

Roy Salvadori/Peter Walker (Aston Martin DB3S) leads Johnny Claes/Jacques Swaters (Jaguar D-type, 3rd position), "Pierre Levegh"/John Fitch (Mercedes-Benz 200SLR) and Reg Parnell/Dennis Poore (Lagonda DP166). "Levegh" later crashed into the crowd killing himself and 80 spectators.
